The Kensington Collar in Oat

Personalised Dog Gifts: Engraved and Name-Made Pieces

Personalised dog gifts are pieces made with the dog's name, and often the owner's phone number, engraved or worked into the design. The most useful are engraved collars and walking sets, because the name and number stay with the dog every day. At Paws & Pampered, you can preview the engraving live on the product page before ordering, and each piece is made to order.

A name turns an everyday object into a keepsake. This guide explains how our personalisation works, what to engrave and how to get it right first time, especially when you are buying for someone else. For gift ideas beyond personalisation, see our luxury dog gift ideas.

Our personalised pieces

You can browse everything in one place in our personalisation collection. There are four pieces:

Piece Price What is personalised
The Kensington Collar £28 Dog's name and your number on the gold quick-release clasp
The Mayfair Collar £26 Name and number on the solid gold-tone buckle
The Marylebone Walking Set £64 Name and optional number on the collar's quick-release buckle
The Keep From £34 The dog's name on the rope basket

The Kensington Collar

The Kensington Collar has a plush band in three tones (oat, chestnut and ivory) and a warm gold quick-release clasp engraved with the dog's name and your number. It is adjustable, in sizes S to XL.

The Mayfair Collar

The Mayfair Collar combines a leather band with a soft webbing lining and a solid gold-tone buckle engraved with the name and number. It is adjustable and comes in several colours, including saddle and cornflower.

The Marylebone Walking Set

The Marylebone Walking Set includes a vegan leather collar with a quick-release buckle engraved with the name and an optional number, a matching lead and a zip poop bag holder with clip, finished in antique brass hardware, in eight colours.

The Keep

The Keep is a hand-coiled natural cotton rope toy basket personalised with the dog's name. It is the one piece here that lives in the home rather than on the walk.

How personalisation works

  1. Choose your piece, colour and size. For collars, measure first (see below).
  2. Enter the details. Type the dog's name and, where offered, a phone number on the product page.
  3. Check the live preview. The product page shows a live preview of your personalisation before you order, so you can check how the name and number will look and catch any spelling mistakes.
  4. Place your order. Each personalised piece is made to order. Our estimated delivery is 6 to 10 working days; check the estimate shown at checkout, particularly before a birthday or Christmas.

Because each piece is made specifically for your dog, personalised items can only be returned if faulty. It is worth reading the preview twice before you confirm.

What to engrave

Space on a clasp or buckle is limited, so keep it simple. The dog's name and a mobile number are the most useful combination: if your dog is ever lost, whoever finds them can call you straight away. For more ideas, see our guide to dog collar engraving ideas.

  • Use the number you are most likely to answer, usually a mobile.
  • Check the spelling of unusual names letter by letter.

What the law requires

Under the Control of Dogs Order 1992, a dog in a public place must wear a collar with the owner's name and address inscribed on it or on a plate or badge attached to it, with some exemptions such as certain working dogs and registered guide dogs. A phone number is not legally required but is strongly advisable. An engraved clasp with your dog's name and number is useful, but you may also want a small tag with your name and address to meet the requirement. Microchipping is a separate legal requirement. Our guide on what a dog tag must say by law covers this in full.

Getting the size right

A personalised collar cannot be exchanged for a different size, so measure before you order. Measure around the middle of the dog's neck with a soft tape, or lay the dog's current collar flat and measure from the buckle to the hole in use. A well-fitted collar should allow you to slide two fingers underneath.

Buying a personalised gift for someone else

  • Confirm the details discreetly. Ask a partner or family member for the dog's name spelling and the best phone number.
  • Borrow the current collar. Measuring it laid flat is the easiest way to get the size without the owner knowing.
  • Allow time. Made to order means you should order well ahead of the date.
  • Puppies grow. For a young puppy, The Keep may be a better choice than a collar that will soon be outgrown.

Frequently asked questions

How does dog collar personalisation work?

You enter the dog's name and, where offered, a phone number on the product page, check the live preview, then order. The details are engraved on the clasp or buckle and the piece is made to order.

Can I see my engraving before I order?

Yes. The product page shows a live preview of your personalisation before you place the order.

Can I return a personalised dog collar?

Personalised items are made to order and can only be returned if faulty, so check spelling, number and size carefully.

What should I engrave on my dog's collar?

The dog's name and a mobile number you will answer. By law, the owner's name and address must also be on the collar or an attached tag.
